Literary festival in Tasmania’s Huon Valley

What could be more sumptuous than spending a week in Tasmania’s Huon Valley as part of a literary festival?

The Terror Australis Readers and Writers Festival is a new biennial literary festival.

This year’s event will be from 31 October to 5 November 2019 and held in the picturesque Huon Valley, Tasmania.

There are three programs spread across five days.

  • Murder She Wrote – A Criminally Good Time
  • Inspire the Love of Reading – Free Community Program
  • Trail of Writers’ Tears – Food, Wine and Books

You can go all-in on one of the programs or pick and choose across the three.

According to the Terror Australis website, Tara Moss says:

What a writer’s and reader’s delight it will be to celebrate great authors and chilling reads in one of my favourite parts of the world. Tasmania – the people, the food, the coffee, the hospitality – and good crime novels are a delicious fit. I would kill to be at the Terror Australis Festival, but thankfully I was invited so I won’t need to.

The program is stuffed full with panel sessions, workshops, and even a murder mystery party set in 1920s Cairo.

Panellists include:

  • Kerry Greenwood, creator of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries
  • Tara Moss, author of the Mak Vanderwall PI series
  • Angela Meyer, Head Publisher Bonnier Australia and author of A Superior Spectre
  • Shamini Flint, author of the Inspector Singh Mysteries
  • And many more!

Keen to get your work in front of publishers? There’s a Pitch To A Publisher event on Friday 1st of November.

According to the Terror Australis website

Spend the morning honing your pitch to a publisher or agent with award-winning author Jack Heath, the creator of Ready, Set, Pitch!, followed by an afternoon of pitching to three Australian publishers for instant industry feedback.

Your publishers include Lindy Cameron, CEO of Clan Destine Press, Lex Hirst, Publisher at Pantera Press and Angela Meyer, Publisher at Echo Publishing, Bonnier Zaffre.

To look at the program and get tickets, head over to the Terror Australis Festival website.

We’re sure you’ll have a killer time.
