Goulburn’s inaugural SPYfest (Yeah, baby, yeah!)

Do you have a nerdy, unabashed passion for all things espionage? Perhaps you're a die-hard Ian Fleming fan? Maybe you have a secret pocket in your trench coat to carry your favourite Ludlum novel?  Or maybe you just want an “appropriate” reason to dress up as Austin Powers?

If this has you shouting, “Yeah, baby, yeah!”, then you better head to Goulburn for their inaugural SPYfest happening September 25th-26th 2015. Authors in the genres of crime, thriller, and mystery will also be there, so there's no shortage of excitement for thrill seekers like you. We know “Danger” is your middle name.

SPYfest is a celebration of all things spy. The city-wide festival of events will feature spy and crime movies, books, music, cars and several very special guests.

The inaugural festival was inspired by George Lazenby, the only Australian thus far to play James Bond on screen, born and raised in Goulburn.

George Lazenby will be returning to his hometown for the entire weekend and will be making an appearance at several of the SPYfest celebrations, including an autograph signing and press-conference.

SPYfest celebrations of all things spy will continue across the weekend. The festival of events will feature spy and tech demonstrations, a parade, an author’s forum and city-wide game of ‘iSPY’.

Goulburn will be transformed into Spy central for the celebrations. Local businesses are showing their support of the festival (and sense of humour) by going undercover and renaming their shop fronts. A Dentist may be renamed ‘Licensed to Drill,’ the jeweler ‘Gold Blinger’ and the carpet shop ‘The Spy Who Shag-piled Me’ to name a few…

Several popular crime, mystery and thriller authors will participate in an Authors Forum on Saturday afternoon. Writers in attendance will include Goulburn raised Greg Barron, suspense crafter Rachel Amphlett, ex-military man Chris Allen, novel debutant Scott Baker and both Derek Emerson-Elliot and Lynette Silver.

SPYfest will not be Goulburn's best-kept secret.
