Turn sadness to joy: ‘Grieve’ writing competition

The 2015 Hunter Writers Centre ‘Grieve’ short story competition is on once more, inviting writers to submit their original works to be judged – with two prizes of $1000 up for grabs, along with many smaller category prizes as well.

Last year, Sharon Elisara, a graduate here at the Australian Writers’ Centre wrote her entry while completing Creative Writing Stage 1 with us… and won top prize! This year it could be you.

Grief is such a strong emotion – and writing about it is often a cathartic way to deal with it or succinctly capture its true essence.

Brevity is the order of the day, with entries required to be no more than 500 words in length, and poetry 36 lines or fewer.

Entries are now open and will close 1 June 2015.
