Birthday wishes don't get much more eloquent than this one from famous playwright William Shakespeare. Yes, he took time away from the afterlife to congratulate us on reaching our 10th birthday milestone here at the Australian Writers’ Centre.

“Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me 10 years! A course! A course! My kingdom for a writing course! To be a writer, or not to be: that is the question. Prose by any other name would smell as sweet.

“If stories be the food of love, write on. All the world’s a page, and all the men and women merely writers. Some are born great writers, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them at the Australian Writers’ Centre. After all, nothing will come of nothing…”

William Shakespeare
