Create interesting and layered stories

Are you planning to have more than one point of view in your novel? And are you wondering how that will work in terms of structure and storytelling?

Juggling multiple points of view can be scary! Especially if this is your first time trying to do so. But multiple points of view allow you to tell stories you couldn’t tell with just one POV. Complex, interesting, layered stories that can draw readers in and remain in readers’ memories for a very long time…if you get it right.

Join multi award-winning, bestselling author Pamela Freeman – as together we FOCUS ON… Handling Multiple Points of View.

Hundreds of students have already completed this seminar. We have received overwhelming positive feedback on the strategies shared by Pamela and the practical advice she provided. “Pamela was fantastic, and I liked having a mix of visual and auditory info. I feel more confident about handling multiple points of view in my writing. AWC courses are fantastic, practical and easy to access. There are so many options to choose from, regardless of what sort of writer you'd like to be.”

Sally O'Meara

FOCUS ON… Handling Multiple Points of View will help you to understand:

  • how to choose your point of view characters
  • how many POVs is too many
  • the effect on readers of multiple points of view
  • how to best use dual timelines
  • how a three-act structure works with multiple POVs (e.g. do you need separate inciting incidents? Separate climaxes?)
  • ways of creating distinct voices for each point of view
  • whether you can have different tenses or 1st AND 3rd POVs
  • how to figure out which POV is the ‘main' one…and more!

“Thanks for offering this terrific seminar – it was worth the time (and money). Pamela's examples were explained clearly and are very practical in approach. The AWC provides practical and useful writing advice and support to writers at all stages of their careers. It's a friendly and welcoming community where writers can build their skills at their own pace, and in turn, their ‘writerly' confidence will grow.”
