What’s it like to learn with AWC?

I was slightly worried that it might be hard and that I would find the assignments too much. I also worried that I wouldn't learn anything practical that I could put into action in my role. Both totally unjustified concerns! :)

Bernadette was so knowledgeable. Her presentation style was very engaging. I found her feedback really helpful. I looked forward to getting feedback each week.

I really enjoyed Bernadette's zingy and infectious energy throughout the course. There were loads of interesting aspects of copywriting that I enjoyed learning about, especially touching on the psychology around peoples' motives behind buying choices. And I really enjoyed the assignments.

It's given me so much more direction and structure - how to convey ideas in a way that really benefit the reader, clarifying features and benefits, utilising the formulas to create flow, and just letting the words speak. Bernadette was clearly very knowledgeable about copywriting. Her manner was warm and engaging and, despite her years of expertise, she never claimed to be an expert, even though she probably is!

I enjoyed the chance to be creative in a different way each week. I found myself looking at copy all over the place - billboards, print, screen, newspaper and thinking how I might have written that or how I could use that as a springboard for my own copy.

I've been writing since I was a child and even published a few articles. But I never knew what a copywriter actually did. This course has shown me I can enjoy being a writer, hopefully get paid and be very creative. I can't wait to get started.

If you like any kind of writing, their courses will excite you and give you the feeling you can write. Whether you make money from it is up to you but the AWC certainly gives you the tools to get out there and try.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed everything about the course. However, I especially enjoyed the assignments, tutor feedback, and participation from the cohort.

I have three uni degrees and feel like I was trained to write quite long, wordy, "slow" types of papers. This course has helped me to write more creatively and to communicate meaningful messages in a short, concise way which gets a response / result. I have been applying these skills to help me communicate more quickly and effectively in many contexts - even interpersonally! I got exactly what I was looking for from this course: confidence. I really needed a tour guide to show me the lay of the land in this new industry, introduce me to the terminology, and show me where to find out more. I did not expect to get so many extra templates and examples and so many of my questions answered without having to ask them. The fact that there was a bonus lesson that focused on the exact questions I had at the end of the course left me very smiley about the whole experience - I would definitely recommend this course.

Bernadette's depth of experience shows in the clear structure of the course and her care for the user experience (each topic is introduced when it will make the most sense). Her feedback was detailed and I felt personally seen by her. I admired her efficiency and practical focus.

I enjoyed the lectures but I got the most out of doing the assignments. They were well designed: not too big or off-putting, but by the end of the course I felt I had at least one experience with all the key skills I would need to get started as a copywriter and it had not been traumatic.

This course has been the specific antidote at the right time for me. As a kid, I wanted to write fiction but had neither the organisational skills or the life-experience to back myself in that. After 20 years as an English teacher, I have the organisational skills, a decent bit of life experience, and I discovered I liked a lot of the incidental writing that is part of the job. I was missing the concrete steps to transition from teaching to copywriting and I didn't know what was really inside that box. Now I know it is what I want to do and am making slow but concrete plans to shift my life into this new course - wish me luck!
