I loved it! Absolutely amazing tutor! I fell in love with writing all over again and overcame my blockages that held me back (self doubt, etc).

I loved the feedback part as I felt connected to the course. I have begun writing a lot more!

It is a great opportunity and you will get something out of it. Sometimes things that are unexpected! I loved this course and I look forward to many more.

Jenny impressed me. I also thought the materials were good; the additional exercises will enable me to do more in-depth work on my own.

I very much liked Jenny. She was a very attentive reader of the assignments, and her comments were well-considered and helpful. I also appreciated her encouragement of my work. Her feedback was reliably punctual.

I'd highly recommend it. I like to see a business with such professional design and service delivery, with (as far as I can see) consistently high quality across materials and presenters. It's giving me more confidence to press forward with creative writing as my vocation.

I really enjoy writing stories for children, and wanted to learn and improve my skills. My only hesitation was I am not very good with online things. I found the course easy to navigate which was great.

I enjoyed the assignments and receiving feedback. I found Stephen's feedback very helpful.

I enjoyed the course and found many parts extremely informative. It has given me more tools to work with.

Jen was fabulous, very precise and clear with her critique. I really liked the way she delivered the feedback and especially how we could see her talking about our work.

At first I wasn't sure how I would feel about having everyone being able to see my homework, but it actually was really great and I loved how we could all read each other's work and learn from everyone - really good format.

It's a great way to connect to your writing and it helps you gather thoughts, be disciplined and learn from others.

Being an English teacher and writing teacher in a curriculum context, I wasn't sure if I'd be doubling up but I wanted to start from the start. I learnt so much from this course that English curriculum hadn't already shown me.

Pamela was wonderful - she has a gentle presence and tone which is nicely balanced with professional knowledge and experience that makes her feedback precise and extremely valuable.

I feel that the course provided me with tools that I didn't already have in my writing toolbox. Now I can move forward with confidence that I'm more well-equipped with knowledge of the craft and the industry.

I would say if you want to be a writer, join the AWC community because you will get the knowledge of the craft and the industry that will take you forward as a writer.

Just a great big thank you to Pamela, Val and Abby for a wonderful, friendly and professional course where I'm sure everyone felt welcome and supported.

I was going into a genre that I knew nothing about. But I really enjoyed the way the content and Vivienne's delivery opened a new door. I have translated 3 books from two languages. But translations are not the same as writing in your own voice. I felt that this course may help me with that. I wasn't disappointed.

I feel like I want to engage in the broader community discourse and hopefully contribute positively.

I always thought I was a content writer and that I didn't need to know anything about being a copywriter. Last month, however, I listened to the AWC creative coaching session with Bernadette Schwerdt. An answer to the question "what is the difference between content and copy" really stood out for me. Bernadette said that whatever we write we still need to engage the reader throughout the article, report or book which is about good copy.

After the creative coaching session I immediately signed up to the copywriting course and I am so pleased I did.

Mark was really positive throughout the course. I was a little nervous about the assignments particularly as everyone would be able to see them. But Mark was very proactive in his feedback and I learnt a lot from everyone's assignments. Once I got over the nerves of presenting something in front of everyone, they were really beneficial.

The course really cemented what I have known and should have been doing. So I have a plan and am moving forward with that now. I've just finished my business card, and have a website under construction, and I've started writing blogs. Whew!

Thank you to everyone at AWC. I will do another course.

The instruction was excellent; I've learned so much. I'm glad the online lessons are available for a year as I intend to go back and listen to them again. I wouldn't describe myself as tech savvy, and was pleased to see how user-friendly the website was.

The tutor was excellent. The feedback she gave was very helpful and clear. It's sometimes difficult to receive feedback, but Pamela was very professional, kind and encouraging. I really looked forward to getting her comments on Mondays!

I loved the feeling of "you CAN do it", and the warm, supportive atmosphere from the tutor and other students. I also loved the clear feedback so I understood exactly what was good and what needed to be changed to improve.

I feel a door has opened a fascinating new world to me. I've also had a real confidence boost.

I found this course after listening to the SYWTBAW podcast. I ummed and ahhed over doing it for probably nearly two years before getting it as a Christmas present from my family.

Pamela was an excellent tutor, giving us plenty of constructive feedback, tips and things to think about. I believe she was quite fair in her assessments and didn't hold back from being critical when required. Pamela is top notch.

I enjoyed seeing how people's writing evolved (as far as it could in only 5 short pieces) and what they were writing.

If you are seriously considering getting the foundations of your writing into order then do this course!

I'd like to thank Pamela and the AWC for a great course and to the AWC in general for the podcast, resources, etc. Great work!

A novel started to fall out of my head in the holidays and I got about 15000 words in and thought, hang on, do I know what I'm doing? I looked at the Novel Writing Essentials course and saw that it recommended I do this one (and now I know why).

Jen was wonderful. Encouraging and honest. I really enjoyed hearing her feedback and trying to assess what to do with her suggestions. I'm not sure I have quite unravelled the magic but there's glimmers of hope now :)

All in all, it has made me realise I do want to pursue this writing thing with reckless abandon. The information I've absorbed has mainly confirmed I have natural ability but also a lot to learn!

A perfect course to get your feet wet. A safe space to give this writing thing a go.

Receiving criticism is a tough one for me, in all aspects of my life. This course enabled me to receive feedback with grace and humility, and not to get wrapped up in the "I did it wrong" self-talk.

The tutor was so thorough, experienced, to the point, constructive, and real.

The calibre of presenters and tutors is excellent, the content is broad enough to really engage, but not overwhelming, and the feedback from tutors and colleagues is such a great way to learn.

Just a big thank you, and I'll be doing more courses with AWC.

I've been working on the same children's novel on and off for years and had become quite stalled in my progress. I've thought for a while that what I really needed was a mentor who knows how to write a novel, and I was very attracted to this course (once I found it!) as an entry point for getting more active professional guidance.

Stephen was most helpful with his comments and stimulated new ways of thinking about my characters, in particular. I thought he was very insightful, respectful and considerate in all his feedback to participants.

I really enjoyed the weekly practical exercises and the way they were mapped to the content. I've always thought writing exercises might detract from the actual business of writing, but I found that each of them really helped develop more of a 3-D approach to the characterisation, plot, etc, while sharpening up writing rigour. I'm a convert!

I haven't really done substantial work on this story since 2013, when it got put very much on the backburner. Doing this course really helped to reignite it for me--every day I went for a long walk and found myself coming up with lots of new ideas, stimulated by the course, which had not happened for a long, long time!

This course is a must for anyone embarking on writing for children or young adults for the first time. It really helps contextualise the current market for young readers, while laying the foundations for robust character and plot development, and stimulating new ways of thinking about your writing process. The opportunity to connect with a tutor and other writers is invaluable.

Thank you so much for a great program! I feel much more empowered to write my story.

I especially waited to do this course with Pamela Freeman as the tutor, and I was so impressed by the calibre of her feedback to everyone in the group. She has the perfect balance of instilling confidence in one's writing, while giving precise, constructive feedback that tells you what you need to try doing differently to keep improving.

Being part of a supportive group was probably the most enjoyable aspect.

I am more confident and motivated to continue working on my idea for a novel. I actually think the course has impacted me in a profound way, but it's too early to tell if I can keep up the inner drive needed to write regularly!

Inspiring and practical course content delivered in a professional yet friendly and supportive way.

A huge thank you to Pamela Freeman and the AWC team for a wonderful experience.

I have been trying to write a novel for a year or so. The process is so much harder than I thought so I felt I needed some general advice and inspiration. Also, it's hard to know if you have any talent so, scary as it is, feedback is so important,

I was very happy with the tutor's support. The comments were very constructive. I found the very tactful advice on what wasn't working as well to be especially helpful!

I hadn't realised what a craft writing is and how much effort and revision is required.

It has encouraged me to believe in myself and just get stuck in!

I enjoyed all of it! Valerie's videos were personable, genuine and full of invaluable information. Pamela's individualised feedback was honest and constructive - exactly what I needed.

Pamela took the time to really get to know her students, their writing styles, and their ideas. She provided insightful advice and constructive feedback.

I am inspired to redraft my novel with new insights this time. I feel I have the right to pursue my craft.

It is a genuine, manageable, targeted, and effective way to pursue your writing dream.

Thank you all!

I wanted something that would give me the incentive to write. I'm great at starting, but bad at doing the hard work.

Pamela was just fantastic. The detail that she went into on everyone's assignments was very in depth, and also tied to the subject matter from that week. I found everything she had to say invaluable. To have her knowledge and experience offered has been a great privilege.

It was very well structured and covered some basic writing skills, a lot of which I'd never been exposed to before. I now feel I have some great tools to be able to move forward with further in my writing.

I now feel like it's worth putting in the effort to keep writing!

It was really understanding that writing is a learned technique, just like learning to ride a bike or learning a musical instrument. If you become aware of *how* to do it, the learning process is that much easier.

Do it! It's brilliant!

Thankyou thankyou thankyou!

Pamela was excellent. Her feedback was always thoughtful, detailed and immensely constructive.

Great balance between audio modules, exercises and assignment work. I really looked forward to the new module being released, and building the time to listen, think and create into my week.

The course reignited my creativity and an inner imaginary world. I feel confident that I can begin the project I've had in mind for many years.

It's stimulating and great fun. Thank you to all involved in running the course.

I learnt a lot about preparing a manuscript and editing the story. I have grown as a writer during this course. Spare, sparkling and tight writing is now my mantra.

I would definitely recommend the AWC to others. The teaching is explicit and helps build knowledge and skills.

A big thank you to the AWC and Zanni for an informative course that has opened my eyes to lots of techniques and tips for stronger, more purposeful writing.

Thanks to this course, I now understand the true value of the scene. From the first to the last module, I was engrossed. There were no words wasted, just gritty information, the stuff that counts for aspirational writers.

I enjoy the audios which reinforce the handouts. I can do things while I'm listening, tidy my desk, bake a cake or curl up on the sofa. Mostly, I enjoy discovering new things about the art of writing. Especially when I find I've included some of them in my work without being aware of it.

Now that I understand the true value of the scene, it's made a huge difference to the quality of my manuscript. This has heartened me and increased my motivation for excellence.

This course is essential for new writers if they want to improve their writing. It's beneficial to more experienced writers who need to polish their manuscripts. There's so much to learn for those attempting a novel. This course makes the hard slog easier.
