The course was very user friendly. I was surprised at the impact and how it generated thinking and opened some of the floodgates. The skills introduced are invaluable.

The tutor was very, very competent and encouraging and the feedback was really useful. I also enjoyed being part of a group sharing writings.

The course provided a skill set and a learning from the writing experience. Making me look at books differently and learn. Opened up the creative narrative. I am reading voraciously at the moment and wish to create more time for writing. I also look at what I have written from a completely different perspective.

Creative Writing Stage 1 provides a great introduction into the skills of writing and can open the internal narrative and some feedback which is invaluable.

The amount and quality of the content was above what I expected, and I look forward to working through it again now that the course has finished.

Petronella seemed very capable and was easy to understand. I liked her down-to-earth style and could tell that she is very competent at what she does.

I really enjoyed listening to Valerie deliver the audio modules, and the information was rich and of great value to myself as a novice writer.

I have done script-writing courses in the past but the teaching material in this course was the most useful I have ever been given. It was clearly presented and practical, so that I could start using it straight away. I also liked the exercises. Writing the assignments made me really focus on what I had learned.

I've just worked out a structure for a novel because of what I've learned on this course. I've never got that far before and it's given me confidence to keep writing.

The material is great, the advice is sound. AWC gave me the information I need and now I feel like I can write a novel.

First of all, some pats on the back for the staff in the office. Initially I had some problems downloading the material and when I rang, the staff were super - followed up - made sure I was okay - and reassured me that I wasn't a computer "Klutz" - which I think I am - and made me feel I could approach them for help anytime. And how lovely to speak to a person instead of getting a recorded message!

Being able to listen to the lessons at a time that suited meant it was easy to work in the course with my other commitments. The printouts were terrific - detailed but easy to follow - and meant I could concentrate on the talk and just make a few comments on the actual handout when I wanted to.

I thought Cathie was terrific - her comments were always helpful and balanced between being encouraging and pointing out areas that needed work. Also, seeing the work and her comments on the other students' writing was useful - a big "thank you" to Cathie.

I really like how I now feel like I have a solid framework to evaluate my picture book ideas and drafts. The course was very clear about what the takeaway messages were.

I feel much more confident about how to move forward with improving my writing.

The course is very well organised and professionally produced with an expert tutor.

This was a great course. It was way better than I expected. It was very professional, very well set out and covered way more than I expected. I found it a really empowering way to learn about writing picture books.

Cathie was fantastic. I found her feedback super helpful (both on my own work and on other peoples' work). She gave really clear guidance that I learnt a lot from.

I am a corporate lawyer so spend a lot of time reading and writing complicated things. It was great to spend some time learning something more simple (but by no means less challenging!), being creative, learning a new way of writing and thinking from a child's point of view. It was very different to my normal day-to-day and got me thinking in a whole different way, which I really enjoyed.

These guys are very professional, seem to have a lot of experience and put together a course that was very comprehensive and a great way to learn.

Thank you for a fantastic course!

I was given this course as a gift from my daughter after she read a piece I had written.

The only hesitation I had was that perhaps, as an uneducated older person, I may not meet the standards of others in the course. I should never have worried about my abilities as I soon learned that everyone writes differently and I decided I would continue in my own style and learn from the course.

I found Pamela's feedback to be very helpful. I developed Covid in the first couple of days on the course but Pamela was very understanding of how I was feeling.

I loved the fact that I can have the handouts at hand to go back over and refresh my memory on the audio lessons.

I have learned so much in this course and it has given me the encouragement to continue with my writing. It does not matter at what stage in life you are or what your style of writing is, just get your words down on paper and draft, draft, draft. In the end, it is your story and you decide what you want to do with those words.

This is a fantastic course. It really covers the major points in writing a great story. Whether you want to publish or not is irrelevant. As a newbie to writing, I found this course to be invaluable for the insight that is given on writing an interesting piece.

Learning completely different types of writing skills compared to the writing skills in my current role has been really rewarding.

I just had it in my head that anyone could do this... but that's not true. Not everyone can, or everyone would! You do need to have a talent for it and a passion for it.

The course is definitely worth it for people wanting to decide if copywriting is for them and then to go ahead and learn the basics.

Being a mum, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find the time to fully participate in this course. Evidently, this wasn't the case. The time magically appeared because I enjoyed it so much.

I enjoyed challenging myself each week to write and submit a piece of writing for assessment.

I have gained more knowledge of the Australian publishing industry; particularly the importance of market research, writing in spreads and developing a manuscript.

The Australian Writers' Centre offers courses that are worthwhile investing your time and money in. The knowledge I gained from a five-week course has been invaluable.

Cathie was excellent. She offered detailed feedback and explained the reasons for her comments, which has helped me learn to write better.

The workshopping and the tutor feedback were invaluable. Gives me yet more impetus to keep writing with the advice and feedback I need to do it better.

WOW. Just WOW.

The course has provided confidence and targeted instructions that address necessary details. I enjoyed the abundance of learning material supplied.

You won't be disappointed - AWC is professional, knowledgeable and willing to share SO MUCH information.

I had an idea for a middle grade novel, which I started writing. Not having written a novel before, I felt that this course would be very helpful in getting my first draft started.

It made me stick to a writing schedule. I felt motivated and I enjoyed the workshopping. The tutor was very knowledgeable and more than happy to provide extra feedback when requested.

Worth every cent! I am now determined to continue writing my middle grade novel.

I appreciated the encouragement to try different techniques and times and places for writing. It was a great way to figure out what works best for me.

I learnt that I can hit my daily goal wordcount (750 words) in half an hour and seeing how much impact that can have over a month has been really powerful.

I found the way the course is offered online makes it accessible, informative and supportive. I love the wealth of resources provided, the knowledge that is shared, and the way feedback is supportably but honestly delivered to encourage writing growth. I also enjoyed reading others' work.

Pamela provided excellent feedback in an honest and supportive manner. I found this encouraging and helped my reflection on why a specific piece hadn't worked so well, inspiring me to re-work it.

I found learning the behind the scenes, deeper insights into the writing process fascinating, for example, things that other writers experience. This has helped build my confidence to keep going, especially hearing it's OK to write because I enjoy honing my craft.

Undertaking this course has lifted my confidence and helped me through some bits I was stuck on in my draft. As a result, I'm feeling excited again about picking up my work and continuing to build it.

AWC provides accessible, supportive and informative writing experiences in a fun manner. Thank you for this opportunity to emerge myself in my passion. It's truly been a delight and I'm excited about keeping it alive.

I enjoyed reading Cathie's comments and suggestions, not just for my work but for other students. If she made similar comments to me, I felt I was on the right track. When Cathie made suggestions, I made the necessary changes and it improved my writing

I really loved the audio, and will replay the modules for a 'booster' during the next few months. I enjoyed reading other people's work, irrespective of genre, and agree that workshopping their writing improved my own.

The course has given me the self-confidence that I initially lacked, and it has motivated me to continue writing, even though I am aware it may take years to reach my goal.

Do it! I have already recommended AWC to a couple of friends toying with the idea of writing a novel or memoir, and given examples of how I feel the courses have helped me.

Cathie is so detailed in her feedback, I read all of them, not just my own because there was so much to learn from the other students' work as well.

I enjoyed finding writers working in a similar or the same genre as myself. It was so comforting to know I wasn't alone on this mad journey, and reading their stories now as they too tried to find their feet with it was a huge help with me beating back my own self-doubts.

By week 3 I had hit my 20K word goal.

If writing is what you want to do, but you have no idea how to start, you need AWC.

I am trying to learn as much as possible before getting stuck into my novel and have done several Australian Writers' Centre courses online. When I saw this one I thought it would be important to find out if I was on the right path to writing a great opening and if not how I can improve on it.

Pamela presents the seminar in an interesting and engaging way. The information was relevant and made perfect sense. I liked the examples provided to back up the information Pamela was speaking about throughout the course. The openings of the books she used were really good and thought provoking.

I have many doubts about my writing - whether it is any good or too boring or unoriginal but each time I complete an Australian Writers' Centre course I become motivated to keep going. Hopefully this is my year to complete my novel.

I have two main characters in my head for my story but wonder if I can pull it off. After listening to what Pamela had to say, I think it can be done.

Definitely enrol in the Australian Writers' Centre courses. They are interesting, informative, practical and flexible. I am so glad I came across them as a result of doing the Furious Fiction competitions. Even if nothing comes of it, I am really enjoying my writing.

I've been floating the idea of writing for some time. I had no idea what area of writing I wanted to pursue. I had no confidence to start. After reading through the courses, Reinvent Yourself was the best course to resolve all the excuses and doubts. I now have the confidence to write, a routine is in place to write regularly, and I look forward to starting another course with the Australian Writers' Centre in the future.

I was concerned I was going to be paying for a quick gimmick unstructured introduction course to writing. I can happily shout from the rooftops I was wrong! From the moment I opened the course content I knew I had found a genuine course created by professionals who are passionate about their students succeeding. I have not only learned about what types of writing styles are out there, I also learned a lot of life motivational tips and tools to stop the excuses and doubts about writing.

The structured course content was easy to follow. I enjoyed all the lessons and the length of time of each session meant I could easily fit studying this course into my lifestyle. I have the confidence to write, have set up a daily writing time and dream of studying the creative writers course in the future.

If you are interested in becoming a writer I recommend the Australian Writers' Centre. Course content has an easy flow of information. The visual and audio option while doing the course means you can study regardless of any learning challenge. There's a wealth of information to stop all the excuses and start writing. There's also writing programs for kids and teens.

I loved how Pamela gave solid examples of telling and then demonstrated how to show that telling in a scene. I enjoy Pamela's approach and always learn more than I expected from attending her seminars.

As soon as I did this seminar, I went back to my manuscript and started looking at telling phrases, and worked on developing them into scenes. It also gave me comfort to know that showing and not telling is something to be tackled in the second draft rather than worrying about it in the first draft.

Book into a seminar, take a course, listen to the podcast and read the book, So You Want To Be A Writer. You'll learn more than you expected and you'll feel empowered to write. You'll heal creative wounds and take action to make your writing dreams come true.

Every course or seminar run by Pamela is GOLD. If it has Pamela's name on it, I sign up. Simple!

As always, Pamela was generous with her knowledge. She's a passionate teacher who cuts to the heart of the subject matter and communicates ideas clearly. The practical examples were so helpful and I feel excited about editing my manuscript after all that I have learned tonight.

I finally understand the 'show don't tell' concept on a deep level. I had a vague idea before, but now feel confident about what to look for in the editing process AND how to fix it. So exciting!

I've heard the advice "show don't tell" many times, but it wasn't until tonight that I really understood WHY it's so important, HOW to spot where it's missing in my writing, and most importantly, HOW to address it. Brilliant! Thank you so much. The information on filter words and phrases was also fantastic. After the seminar, I searched through my manuscript and was able to quickly identify many weak areas in my writing that I now know how to edit and improve.

AWC deliver what they promise. Oh! And if you see a course - any course! - presented by Pamela Freeman, enrol!

Thanks again for a great seminar. The information was comprehensive and has really inspired me.
