I love this course! It is surprising to see how much is involved in writing a picture book! This course was fantastic! I loved how the modules were broken down to simplify all that is needed to write a picture book.

I enjoyed the examples that were given so I could understand how to relate the material to a picture book which can be challenging.

I have all of these little nuggets in the back of my mind when writing and going back to the handouts to ensure that I have covered everything in my writing! This would not have happened without this course!

This is a great place to "Start". A lot of people don't know where to begin and I have told several friends to go to the Australian Writers' Centre. They have courses online and it works for your busy schedule!

Bernadette is engaging and very experienced with a wealth of knowledge to offer and share.

I enjoyed reading everyone's weekly assignments - a great way to learn even more.

This course has shown me that I can actually make a successful business out of copywriting.

If you want to learn how to write great copy then enrol.

The tutor was great; knows her stuff. Explains everything very well.

I enjoyed the weekly assignments - and the feedback to each.

Very well-presented and logical explanations.

I enjoyed it and learned so much that I signed up to the Copywriting Essentials course.

I really enjoyed this as editing and proofreading are passions of mine. I enjoyed the extra content Grant provided whilst remaining faithful to the curriculum. Learning more about areas of how to be more concise.

In the course, I sharpened my skills, learnt about editing software, external resources and other ways to do things.

The AWC is a great place to learn more about what you think you already know.

Always had an interest in writing children's books and finally found the motivation to take a leap and work towards this goal. I was concerned I wouldn't have enough time to complete the weekly course expectations but the course was very user friendly and very manageable.

The feedback was very useful. I enjoyed learning the techniques to writing a successful children's book.

The course has got me motivated to build on my skills and write and complete my books.

Mark and Bernadette were a wealth of knowledge.

I enjoyed the examples and the course content, plus the encouragement and 'have fun' attitude.

I am more aware of the steps to how copywriting is done. I feel like I have been let in on secrets.

The tutor was very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning from her.

The course has given me a clear direction on where to go with my copywriting career, what to focus on, and how to structure my writing. The blog formulas were so helpful.

If you want to further your career then this is the place for you. Study in the comfort of your own home, and feel more confident about your skills when you're finished.

Michelle is personable and gave good examples of what she was discussing. It was nice to see various authors' sites as examples of what to create and these also sparked ideas for my own work.

It gave me a sense of excitement and optimism about my future as a writer (and possibly web designer for writers).

The Australian Writers' Centre offers such a wide range of interesting and exciting course topics that browsing their website makes me feel like a kid in a candy store! I've already signed up for four courses, completed two, and have another couple in my sights. I can also, for probably the first time ever, really see how a career as a writer can be in my future. I'm grateful to have discovered the AWC.

AWC has an incredible reputation. The people who work for the AWC are professional, knowledgeable and exude positive energy.

Petronella is knowledgeable and warm, with a wicked sense of humor. The feedback was interesting. She provided feedback and lessons more broadly so that no individual felt under the microscope. I was prepared for my work to be ripped apart and more than ok with that, but it didn't happen. I had to shift my expectations and learn from the feedback given to others, in addition to what I could glean from that provided on my own writing.

I enjoyed the feedback the most for sure; it's what I'm craving at this point. It was also interesting to read other people's work. I think it made me a more patient reader.

I have more confidence to tell the stories I want to tell. I'm putting my work out into the world as often as I can moving forward. I've entered the Peter Carey Short Story Award. I wouldn't have done that if not for this course. Thank you for the motivation and inspiration.

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do this with the fulltime job and uni degree I am doing parttime, but I found it to be easy to follow and not take up too much of my time.

I enjoyed the templates and video lessons. Mark was very helpful with feedback and direction.

I am going to start a copywriting business on the side of my fulltime job and I'm turning my fulltime job into a permanent part time one to try this!

I have always wanted to learn how to write children's picture books. Over recent years I have taught in early years classrooms and this has fuelled my desire to pursue my interest. I liked that the course was only 5 weeks long, so provided a perfect 'entry level' opportunity to see if this is something I would like to pursue further. I was worried I may not be able to find the time to complete the assignments, however, this was never an issue.

Having the opportunity to have weekly feedback was definitely a draw card. I appreciated that Cathie was very honest and professional when giving feedback. I loved how she recorded herself giving feedback as she read through the work samples.

The assignments were very achievable and I loved how the modules had short audio lessons to listen to so I didn't feel I had to complete the weekly modules in one sitting. The PDF notes were also very helpful. The course was very flexible and I found it easy to complete whilst juggling work and family commitments.

I read picture books through a different lens now that I know and can appreciate the time, effort and drafting that goes into creating the final story. I'm now constantly writing notes anytime a story idea pops into my head!

The course was very practical and easy to follow. I really enjoyed how the course was structured and would not hesitate in recommending it to others. I'm so glad I signed up and can't wait to explore this interest further.

I've been wanting to get into writing for years but didn't really have a clear direction. This course has given me more confidence in my ability.

The tutor was really positive and professional with her responses and advice.

The Writing Picture Books course will give you a professional advantage to help you stand out to publishers.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to taking this further.

Cathie is a great teacher. Her feedback was direct and helpful. She was tactful and kind. I'm so sad that the course has ended.

I enjoyed learning about the industry. This course has lit an excitement within about being able to communicate to my daughter how she was made. This course has also opened my mind to the possibility of getting a publishing deal if I use all the wonderful information I have learnt here.

There have been so many 'aha!' moments. Each module builds on creating the desire for more knowledge and more learning. I loved it. I found the practical information about publishers using 32 pages or 16 double page spreads wonderful. The 3-act structure combined with a story page plan and possible page ranges I found so helpful being a complete beginner.

I would definitely recommend and have already recommended the Australian Writers' Centre to both friends and family. To my brother, a passionate Dad of 2 children under 2, I said, 'Just do it! It's fabulous!'

I would need to write an essay to convey how much admiration and gratitude I feel for the team of creatives at the Australian Writers' Centre who have put this course together. My direct message to all of you is, 'You Rock!, hats off!' Thank you so much for your professionalism and dedication to our craft :)

I really loved this course and got so many practical ideas from it, including for my book launch (which I didn't expect this course to cover). Instead of feeling worried and out of my depth when it comes to getting up in front of kids, I'm now feeling excited about creating some fun, on-brand workshops and talks that play to my strengths and will get kids excited about books (both mine and other peoples'!)

I enjoyed Nat's vibrant personality and all the practical examples (of workshop activities, presentation content, launch ideas, book trailers, etc).

I now have some concrete ideas for how to plan and organise my workshops, and I feel excited and energised rather than terrified by the prospect of standing up in front of a roomful of kids (a classroom's worth, anyway... an auditorium or school assembly still feels rather daunting!) I'm looking forward to connecting with the kids!

Do AWC's courses. They are awesome. :D

Thank you so much!

This course made me realise that it is possible to get some writing done every day. I have found myself thinking about my plot ideas all the time. Some days I couldn't wait to get back on the computer to write more.

It's possible to find time to add to the word count each day. Who would have thought? :)

AWC courses are detailed, easy to follow and understand, and set out in such a way that you can complete them at your own convenience. The tutors are encouraging and make you believe you can achieve your goals.

Cathie was excellent. Honest and encouraging. She knows how to push you to produce your very best.

The learning modules were excellent and it was lovely to be part of a supportive writing community.

It's given me confidence to pursue my dream as a fiction writer. I've discovered I have talent and, with hard work, have a good chance of success. I'm inspired to master my craft and can't wait to do Edit Your Novel.

The Australian Writers' Centre will unlock your creative potential. Look no further!

I really wanted to finish my manuscript and get some good feedback on it. This course helped me do that!

I am really grateful for the writing friends I have made in the course. I found their feedback to be the most helpful part of the course (aside from the audio classes which I loved). During the feedback my peers gave me, they pointed out how passive my language was. I didn't realize I was doing that and so that helped me moving forward.

This is a great way to continue education on your own time and pursue your writing goals! I have learned a ton in the three courses I have taken!

This was the first time I had joined an online course so wasn't sure how I was going to navigate everything. To AWC's credit, the online courses are well mapped out and make the journey enjoyable and entertaining.

It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to learn from Bernadette's tutorials, propelling us to take up the challenge of the week's module, then know there was support, if needed, during the week and then the back up of Mark's feedback once the homework was submitted. A dynamic duo, to say the least.

Mark's individual attention to each of us plus the quality of his comments were always impressive. His professionalism, enthusiasm, gentleness and positivity threaded with his wonderful wit always made the wait for the weekly feedback worth waiting for. Write on!

It's definitely rekindled the writing fire ... & enthusiasm / admiration for advertising.

Start! Whatever you're interested in just start! Take note of the insightful information from AWC suggesting "we recommend this course first" to launch from if you're interested in either building or restructuring your knowledge of a topic. And have fun!

It is a surprising delight to feel part of a community spirit at AWC - just from an online experience alone. Happy scribbling to all!

I'm keen to develop my writing skills and I am travelling to some interesting places over the next few years, so I thought this could be a way to keep motivated to write, learn to write for a different market and have some fun.

The course is well organised, the learning outcomes are clear and it was easy to negotiate online.

I enjoyed being pushed out of my comfort zone. It's a little daunting to have your assignment seen by other members of the course, but it's a good way to learn and is consistent with up-to-date teaching and learning theories which advocate peer learning.

If you want a 'no nonsense', concise, but comprehensive introduction to travel writing then this is the course for you!

I hope to continue my writing with AWC in some way. Thank for another excellent course.

Valerie is honest, caring and extremely supportive of her students. She really encourages us in every way. You know you are being guided by an expert, and this is so inspiring.

I loved the assignments; they made you think and challenged you in a great way. Also, I loved going through all the example articles with Valerie; her knowledge as she broke them down really helped me see how they should be written.

I feel as though being a travel writer may not be out of my reach. Valerie helps you believe it is possible.

Do not hesitate. You will be so rewarded and addicted to their courses. They make learning fun, easy and accessible. They are the best in the business in my view! I can't wait to do another course!
