While my grammar is good, it's instinctive. I cannot parse a sentence to save myself.

I enjoyed finding out I know a lot more than I think, plus great tips to improve my writing. Not in the least bit dry. Lively and informative.

I've always felt a bit of a fraud for coasting on a gift for writing grammatically with no clue as to why. Now I have the answers.

Your courses are well designed and presented. I am a better writer because of them. For example, I placed second in a national competition with a story I developed in your Short Story Essentials course.

I thought Angela was lovely. Supportive & encouraging. She saw the best in everyone's writing & added other material that was useful. I could see that to be successful took a huge amount of work & dedication.

I really liked the Zoom class a lot. I enjoyed the audio lessons, the classroom chat and the assignment feedback (not just my own). The way it was spaced out was good; I was looking forward each Monday for the next module.

Thank you. We are lucky to have AWC to offer these courses and podcasts to inspire us.

It was filled with so much useful and interesting information. I have a much better understanding of novel structure, especially the second act following this seminar.

I finally learnt about pinch points!

Australian Writers' Centre courses make writing a novel achievable. Even better, they make writing a good novel possible.

It has given me a clear structure to apply/refer to for my second act - and in fact also goes a long way to balancing up and polishing all three acts!

There's no such thing as too much excitement! just the thing I needed to hear at this point. But I got a tremendous amount from this seminar! I've been processing it all day!

The AWC is a terrific source for quality education from highly experienced tutors, at a great price generally!

I have enormous respect for Pamela's knowledge and ability to share it with novices like myself. I am going to try to implement her strategies in my next story, particularly subplots (which I didn't even think of before!)

I like feeling a part of the AWC community through involvement in these seminars, particularly getting to know the authors a bit better. The seminars are presented well, with down-to-earth humour and honesty which I find engaging.

I look forward to the next one...whatever that might be. I'm sure I will learn something that I had never even thought about before.

I've written a middle-grade novel and have been trying to sort out the 2nd act. Pamela answered a number of questions for me. She gave a lot of meaty information and no time was wasted. It was exactly what I needed.

I thought this was one of the best courses I've been involved in.

Don't hesitate; the teaching material is valuable for all writers.

I find the middle section the trickiest part of the book to get right. So, I wanted to see if there were any skills I could learn to help me through.

This session was brilliant - a short, sharp summary of how to keep narrative tension moving in the middle of the novel. Loved the very concrete structure that Pamela shared to ensure story doesn't sag in the middle. The notes are clear and well put together. So glad I signed up!

AWC courses are well structured and presented, with great notes. Useful for writers of all stages.

I wanted to try YA fiction to see if it works for me, having done Picture Books and a few other courses before.

Pamela is an expert in many genres and gave valuable feedback. I have learnt so much. She also has a great sense of humour, making learning and working easy.

I loved the small group so everyone could participate. My fellow students were supportive, giving feedback on each other's writing.

Just do it!

Pamela's advice is always clear and practical so that you can take what she says and apply it directly to your work in progress, and in all three sessions I don't think there's been one question she hasn't been able to answer in an enlightening way.

No matter how many times I hear tips and tools for writing, I'll hear something again (or said differently) and think 'ah, that's right, I forgot I should do that.' For me, these sessions are good refreshers that I always get something out of.

Love Pamela's presenting style... and generosity of sharing knowledge.

I enjoyed everything... looking forward to the next opportunity... my confidence has improved greatly.

Currently working on my first novel, 7,500 words into the second act and working out how to get to 2nd turning point, so this was just what I needed.

I have an idea of what needs to happen in act 2, Pamela put flesh on the bones, helped me see where I need to focus and go.

It was a reminder that I can do this, to pay attention to what flows, build on the setup and keep writing and wait till the edits to work the story into shape.

I think of myself as taking toddler steps, so if you are looking for the next step with your writing, get the weekly newsletter or follow the blog and maybe do a course.

Pamela Freeman is a great presenter. She really knows her stuff but also has a way of expressing her ideas that is relatable and engrossing. There was just so much useful information in the whole presentation.

It has made me realise I need to review what I've written to date and try to take the whole thing to a better, more interesting level.

Great courses. Great presenters. I always learn new things no matter which course I've done.

I enjoyed Pamela's enthusiasm for her subject and many relatable examples. The Seminar made me realise or affirm that the way my novel's storyline is unfolding is spot on and on track with the midpoint, pinch points etc. that Pamela was talking about... and I didn't even know about those things ?? Has spurred my enthusiasm to keep going. Thankyou for your wonderful words of wisdom Pamela.

Get involved with the AWC - friendly, informative and above all encouraging! Writing can be a lonely business. It's great to connect with other like minded people ??????

Thanks for all you do AWC. Great job!!

I have a clearer understanding of how to write the middle of my story. The way Pamela explains the content of the course is amazing. She says it in a way that a person that hasn't written before would understand.

I have learned a lot with this course and if you want to learn about how to write and get your story published then try AWC courses because they are amazing and you learn a lot.

Pamela is amazing as a tutor. She is so knowledgeable about how to write a story and multiple genres. I always enjoy her courses and FOCUS ON seminars.

Pamela is so natural, she's a pleasure to watch and listen to. Gave me much more insight into improving my manuscript.

For all would-be authors - the AWC is a must if you want to improve your writing skills.

Pamela was a bit of a genius. She could look at anyone's story (and there were a lot of different stories), and give individual advice on what was needed to improve it. She also had a truckload of knowledge and experience.

Overall, the exercises and advice helped me firm up my story and world. It gave me a lot more to think about to make my world and story stronger.

The AWC teaches you the craft of writing, so you're not wondering where to start or how to go about the whole process. This is my third course. Loved them all. Will be doing two more probably.

I wanted a course to help me start on the path of creative writing after decades of not writing. I did feel anxious about having to expose my writing to others when I felt very out of practice. My online tutor was very thoughtful and provided useful feedback as well as other information in response to questions.

I enjoyed learning about the practical process of writing a novel. This course has given me the confidence to continue working towards my goal of writing a novel and given me some insights into the type of novels that I might like to write.

This AWC course fulfilled the course outline but more importantly provided an informative and practical guide to creative writing and an opportunity to improve my writing through constructive feedback from an expert tutor.

Writing was something I wanted to do since I was 20. Now I have the time and began to explore the idea. There have been many moments of doubt and being about to pack away the idea, until I did this course. It was a moment of realising that it was something I could do now and make it a part of my life.

The online tutor was excellent and the feedback was another reason for doing this course. I looked forward to Mondays to see what I would be learning next.

The courses are a good investment. There is a lot of in-depth knowledge to be gained in a supportive environment.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to doing another course.

Because I struggle with writer's block and narrative structure, this course helped me understand how much skill building I need in writing. This inspired me to keep going with my writing journey.

I enjoyed understanding the story template of the hero's journey, the characters, and telling versus showing examples which helped me to continue on the path to be a professional writer.

I learnt important tools from the modules, such as structure and rising tension, which helped me understand what I need to do to write my book in a creative way, and also the confidence to continue with my book.

The writing course was important to do, giving you skills and knowledge relating to creative writing, that I believe is needed before writing a book.

Angela was very gracious in her comments and I do feel encouraged.

The whole course was such an eye opener. I simply had no idea as to the extent of writing being a 'craft'. I believe it is something I do wish to pursue. I am finding it all so interesting and I'm perhaps now a little obsessed. I am very keen to see my own 'craft', style and content develop and improve. Working at one's own pace and timeframe online is ideal; whilst at the same time having the deadline of Sunday night's submission.

I thought I might enjoy writing. Now I have a burning desire to learn to write. No idea what yet ... hopefully that will come.

Creative Writing Stage 1 was precisely what I was looking for. Its online structure is logical and easy to follow. The content is jam packed, yet nurturing in its delivery and loaded with encouragement for the novice. Thank you. An excellent resource and support system.
